Gossip On Sports - The Latest Dish On and Off the Field

Write, Rant, Repeat

by Jodie on October 2nd, 2007

If you’ve cruised the blogosphere or cyber sports world this week, you might have come across the words “Mike Gundy” and “rant” in the same sentence. (Only 224,000 hits or so on Google if you enter those terms).

No need to rehash the brouhaha (LOVE that word!) in detail. In short, Oklahoma State football coach Mike Gundy took issue–very loudly, very not-subtly–with journalist Jenni Carlson for writing that the team’s QB may have a ‘tude.

This article will give you the facts, ma’am, and give you some background info if you’re interested. Make sure you come back here after you’ve read it. If you don’t, I won’t be helpful anymore. (As Bacchus would say, AIAKN–And I Ain’t Kiddin’, Neither).

Now, you can see the rant here. But the REALLY funny, make-sure-you-take-your-bathroom-break-before-you-listen-to-it piece, is here. The 12-year-old in me–dare I say, all of us?–delights in a good phone prank, and this one gets the Gossip on Sports STF (Spit-Take Funny) award.

These names are all foreign to me, but I still enjoy your style — quick-hit and crisp!

Would you ever want to spice your blog with cricket gossip, you know your go-to gal, don’t you?

    And welcome aboard!

Best rant I’ve seen in a long, long time. Whether you agree or disagree with his stance, you must admire him for his passion and his desire to protect his players.

    “I’m a man! I’m 40! Come after me!”

    Good stuff.

We here at Gossip on Sports thank SixandOut for the heads-up about cricket. You KNOW that as soon as there’s a snark-worthy something-something in that sport, we’re going to work in some Jiminy Cricket jokes, right?

Point taken, Rich. Gundy’s rant is one for the record books any way you look at it–we’ll see if other coaches follow suit when their players get dinged in the press.
