Vince Wilfork and the Three Stooges
The 34.5 million people who watched the Patriots-Giants game on December 29 saw it, the refs apparently didn’t.
The Poke.
Patriots nose tackle Vince Wilfork got into a skirmish with Giants RB Brandon Jacobs. Now, the game was full of post-play shoves and trash-talking from both teams. But when Wilfork poked Jacobs in the eye (through the mask), three things happened simultaneoulsy when it appeared on the replay.
1. Pats fans mopped their collective brows and thought, “Close one! Good thing the refs didn’t see it.”
2. Pats non-fans and—dare we admit it—Pats “haters” threw remotes at the TV and yelled, “@*#^&!% Patriots! They get away with everything! It’s all Bill Belichick’s fault, him and his @*#^&!% hoodie!”
3. Yours truly immediately thought of the Three Stooges.
In honor of The Poke Seen ‘Round the Nation, here’s a highlight video (2m, 14s) of Moe, Larry, and Curly trading slaps, pokes, and semi-affectionate smashes to the head.

Sweet, very funny antics by the three stooges. That pretty much sums up what happened on the field between Wilfork and Jacobs.

Great! Glad you liked our sophisticated, nuanced analysis between the two.
Speaking of tongue-in-cheek takes on sophistication, check out another Three Stooges clip (3m, 31s) involving wealthy people, a butler, and a pie fight. Copy and paste this into your browser (I can’t embed the video in the comments section):
