A Sox Curse on the Yankees, Part Two?

by Jodie Lynn Boduch on May 20th, 2008

It’s a good day in Red Sox Nation (did ya hear that, Hank ”That’s a Creation of the Red Sox and ESPNSteinbrenner?) .

As if Jon Lester’s no-hitter weren’t enough to make us do cartwheels in between the cubicles at work, today we came across a rumor concerning more Sox-inspired curse potential at the new Yankee Stadium.

If you’re an MLB fan who isn’t living in a foxhole on an island off the coast of a country in Southeast Asia, you might remember that last month a buried David Ortiz shirt was unearthed from the new Yankee Stadium.

Now rumors are swirling that the mason who bestowed a cement casing on the Red Sox jersey may have slipped in another bit of Sox memorabilia: A scorecard from the 2004 ALCS. And this guy ain’t a-sayin’ where in the new stadium it’s buried.

We heart the symbolism here! Not only does it represent the turning point for the Boston Red Sox—who game back from a 0-3 deficit against the New York Yankees and went on to sweep the St. Louis Cardinals—but it’s a nod to the hitter who set it all in motion.

Is this another “curse” or just another rumor about another curse? Well, we can’t be certain, but check out the May 20th standings in the AL East . . .
