In our previous post, we promised a return to the usual snark. We weren’t a-bluffin’.
Move over, Maria Sharapova. There’s a new Queen of Scream in town.
Ah, well. Here’s proof that our astute observations deserve a hearty self-congratulations. (Pfft–as if there’s never been a hint of smugness on this blog). A 9-year-old tennis player got tossed […]

Veteran linebacker Tedy Bruschi will remain with the New England Patriots. He’s inked a multiyear deal with the Patriots and the fans are happy.
You’d be hard pressed to find a Pats fan who wasn’t also a Bruschi fan. His story is enough to warm the cockles of even the most frozen-hearted (normally, that describes us . […]

Jessica Simpson, rumored (yes, that’s in bold and italics for a reason) bride-to-be to Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo, is taking her act on the road.
And we don’t mean her singing career.
We mean The Jinx Tour, first debuted at Dallas Cowboys stadium this fall, when Simpson’s presence coincided with Romo’s worst QB performance ev-ah.
Now, Jessica […]

This is very definitely in the “wish we thought of it” category.
The Red Sox signed portly—now that’s an understatement—pitcher Bartolo Colon to a minor-league contract. Colon, listed as 5′11″ and 245 pounds (now there’s another understatement), will *ideally* bounce back from his injury-hampered, post-Cy Young days to become a factor in the starting rotation.
Thumbs up […]

So you might know that Reggie Bush of the New Orleans Saints is doing a not-that-happy dance right now due to allegations that he pocketed shekels while at USC. If proven true, Bush will end up with more room on his mantle over the fireplace—you know, once he gives back the Heisman Trophy.
But Reggie ditched his court appearance. Best suited […]

This just in, per reader Bacchus: WEEI Sports Radio Network reports that Rosevelt Colvin has been cut by the New England Patriots.
We’ll fill in the blanks when the details make their way out and verify the scoop. Check back later!
UPDATE: Ha! We were so quick on the draw that the story hadn’t reached the ‘net when […]

We’re squarely in this category, ever since we read in Tennis magazine that she was a snot while signing autographs at the 2006 U.S. Open. (We liked the pre-prima donna Maria).
Want to chuckle at Maria Sharapova’s on-court shrieks? Behold, high-pitched Maria at the Qatar Open (20s):

In honor of Maria Sharapova’s 6-1, 2-6, 6-0 win over Vera Zvonareva at the Qatar Open, we’ve decided to give the people what they want: A Maria montage.
The first one we posted is—darn YouTube!—no longer available. You would have loved it. It was a Maria slideshow-lovefest to Celine Dion’s “My Heart Will Go On.” Seriously. It was […]

The rumor mill continues to churn about videotaping in the NFL . . . and the latest dish doesn’t involve Bill Belichick, the New England Patriots, or even Sen. Arlen Specter.
Did the Denver Broncos videotape the San Diego Chargers practicing?
The report came out on Yahoo!—without any cited sources—and is recapped here on the San Diego […]

We were all caught up in Oscar fever last night, critiquing fashion choices (Heidi Klum’s red dress was da bomb) and presentations (can you believe how freakin’ jittery Katherine Heigl was? We thought it was a ruse . . . but no, she really was that nervous). Then we realized how totally overlooked the sports […]
